These gold filled earrings are easy to make and party perfect. No need for heating or soldering as all the components are ready made and polished. You’ll need just 2 pairs of pliers and a little patience.
Gold filled jewellery is also known as rolled gold or gold bonded and is created by mechanically bonding a layer of gold to a layer of base metal – usually brass. The outer gold layer must be at least 1/20 of the overall metal content by weight. Therefore it makes a great alternative to gold plating, which is thinner and less durable.

Step 1
Take the 3mm jumpring and grip either side of the ends of the jumpring with flat nose pliers and chain nose pliers. Open the jumpring by twisting the pliers in opposite directions.

Step 2
Add the star charm onto the jumpring and then thread the open jumpring onto the gold filled circle of life.

Step 3
Close the jumpring ends flush by gripping either side of the ends of the jumpring with flat nose pliers and chain nose pliers. Twist the pliers into the centre ensuring the jumpring ends are flush.

Step 4
Repeat this process adding jumprings either side of the star charm to act as ‘spacers’.

Step 5
Open a jumpring and add a gold filled ball onto the jumpring and then thread the open jumpring onto the gold filled circle of life.

Step 6
Close the jumpring ends flush by gripping either side of the ends of the jumpring with flat nose pliers and chain nose pliers.
Twist the pliers into the centre ensuring the jumpring ends are flush. Repeat this process adding another gold filled ball on the other side.

Step 7
Add a jumpring either side of the gold filled balls to act as spacers.
Finally add on 2 gold filled balls either side using jumprings.
The gold filled circles should now have from left to right: Ball, jumpring, ball, jumpring, star, jumpring, ball, jumpring, ball.
Repeat this on the other gold filled circle to create the other earring.

Step 8
Open the gold filled hook wire by gripping either side with flat nose pliers and chain nose pliers. Open the hookwire by twisting the pliers in opposite directions.
Thread on the gold circle.

Step 9
Close the hookwire by gripping either side of the ends of the hookwire with flat nose pliers and chain nose pliers.
Twist the pliers into the centre ensuring the wires line up flush.

Step 10
Repeat this process to make a second earring.
