Sea Glass Pendant necklace

Enjoy making this beautiful necklace, to wear or gift, by following our simple step by step written instructions or by watching our video tutorial.

Step 1

Draw around your sea glass on a piece of paper.

Then use your half round pliers to shape the wire slightly smaller. Use snips or wire cutters to cut the excess wire.

Step 2

When the two ends of the wire meet flush, use emery sticks to sand any jagged edges. Place the Silver wire circle onto a solder/heat proof block and add a small amount of hard solder paste.

Step 5

Cut four pieces of Silver wire approximately 15mm or long enough to be able to come up the sides of the sea glass and over the front of it so it will hold it in place.

Step 6

Place the Silver wire on the soldering block so they over hang and use a blowtorch to heat one end of the wire until it melts and forms a blob on the end of the wire. Repeat for all the pieces of wire. When cool, add them to a warm pickle solution.

Step 9

Place the Silver wire circle on the soldering block.

Add a small amount of easy solder paste to the unmelted end of each piece of wire and place them around the Silver wire circle ensuring they touch the circle.

Add a small amount of easy solder to the jump ring and place it at the top of the Silver wire circle, ensuring it is touching the circle. Heat all pieces of wire evenly until the solder melts and flows.

Step 11

Add a jump ring by gripping one side of the jump ring with chain nose pliers and the other with snipe nose pliers, and gently twisting the pliers in opposite directions.

Hook the jump ring through the Silver loop and close it by gripping one side of the jump ring with chain nose pliers and the other with snipe nose pliers, and gently twisting the pliers in opposite directions into the centre.

To solder the jump ring, add a small amount of solder paste to where the jump rings join and heat gently with a hand blow torch until the solder melts and flows. Quench the Silver wire in water or leave to cool, then add it to a warm pickle.

Step 12

Use a Silver polishing cloth to add shine to the wire or place it in a barrel polisher. Place the sea glass in the centre of the Silver circle. Use pliers to manipulate the wires and blunt objects to push the wires over the sea glass until it is securely set in place.
