is there a thread about how to use these please? I've had some disasters with heat lately and can't help thinking that hitting stuff might be therapeutic.
Hi Liz,
I expect Peter will answer as well, but I have the book 'Metals Technic', edited by Tim McCreight ISBN 0-9615984-3-3, which has a chapter with drawings on this.
All you need in addition is a vice, some hammers, ear plugs and reams of copper sheet for practice. Oh,and tolerant neighbours.
Regards, Dennis.

Mostly it's the same answer
There's also Heikki Seppa's book on Form Emphasis for Metalsmiths that goes into some more detail on shape, quite advanced; Cynthia Eid & Betty Longhi are working on a new book on shell forming, not sure when it is out.
I wrote a thread a while ago on the basics of working with these - here.
