Winter Jewels 2
From last Thursday through to the 29th December, ACJ Wessex are holding their Winter Jewels 2 exhibition at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Romsey. We've 24 jewellers exhibiting, mostly working in silver, with a wide range of styles. I'll probably be up there most weekends, so if you're in the area, come along and see! We might try and persuade you to join ACJ though...

Had a look at the website - looks like some really nice stuff there.
Do you know if we have to fork out 9 quid entry to the gardens to see the exhibition - slightly object to that :-)

I should have remembered that from the previous year, sorry!
No, entrance to the gardens & entrance to the exhibition aren't linked - the exhibition is the free side of the gardens

Many thanks for the link Peter. I hope the event is really successful for you, it looks like a good mix and some gorgeous goodies on offer.
Having looked at your link, I like the ethos of ACJW, but there are so many different associations to think of joining, why did you choose ACJW, rather than BJA ..?

Now that's one from back in the mists of time! Er... IIRC, I did a course with some ACJ members and it seemed that the ACJ suited the part-time jeweller better than the BJA. ACJ Wessex is a regional branch - so effectively, anyone within the catchment area of Wessex (slightly fluid borders as needed!) can participate in ACJW events. We run the occasional workshops on things like etching, anticlastic raising and the likes; social events, scrap pot challenges - I'm supposed to do a workshop on heat-treating steel some time next year.
As much as anything else, it's nice to get the opportunity to have a local network of like-minded jewellers - we share contacts, services (I'm getting my arm twisted to offer stone setting to members too)...
Which is not to suggest that other organisations don't do similar things - for now I'm only a member of ACJ.
The official description of ACJ is over at www.acj.org.uk
